FILM//design development

I wanted to play with this vector to see if it can be applied within the designs. The logo itself is pretty minimal and i think some simple illustration could aid the simplistic appearance of the designs....the logo would fit in pretty well with the linear drawing too

 << incorporating the logo

In black-and-white photographic film there is usually one layer of silver salts. When the exposed grains are developed, the silver salts are converted to metallic silver, which blocks light and appears as the black part of the film negative.

I think this would be a good opportunity to incorporate FOILING into my designs. It will help add that sophistication that I'm looking for.

I wanted to see how they'd come out & so I simply used a silver pen over the line:

although i quite like the idea of illustrations within the designs im not sure if they work in terms of keeping the designs sophisticated so i think i'll keep playing around and possibly looking at a new direction....?...

Net experimentation

Seeing as film grain is actually made up of light-sensitive silver halide salts, Im kean to encorporate silver into my designs.

I've thought about foiling for my designs and so I decided to use a silver pen on my nets just to see how it works visually.

Seeing as the logo is already pretty minimalist I think the silver adds a nice touch. This potentially adds elegance if I apply it correctly! I'd like to look into screen printing with silver paint...

Good is...

the appreciation of a developed photograph from the preferred film

Why?

1/ Once you've successfully developed the photographs from the chosen film you have a far greater appreciation of the final image compared to that of a digital one. It's really satisfying to see your image appear on the photographic paper after you've gone through the process of using and developing your film.

2/ Transparency films reproduce a far wider gamut than any digital display or print medium.

3/ Film produces sharper photographs with a greater resolution.

4/ It's photography at it's purest form. There's no need for computers or editing.

5/ With film being the traditional photographic method, it's important to encourage and uphold the process, when statistics show that 82% of camera owners use digital cameras.

I intend to (inform/instruct/persuade/direct/educate/promote)

...encourage and promote the use of photographic film and inform the audience of about the photographic process.

... a group of... (identify your specific audience of context)

...photographic film enthusiasts along with anyone who wishes to learn more about photography and the process development

...that... (state your message, idea or concept)

...encourage the use of photographic film and to help people develop an appreciation for the photographic process

In order to achieve this I will produce... (specify at this point in time what you aim to produce, the method of delivery/distribution/the context in which it will be viewed)

Product - what is your product?
Range - what range of deliverables will you produce/propose?
Context - define the context in which your products will exist/be viewed.

logo development

Chosen logo from the progress crit..

I wanted to play around with the logo to see if it could be developed/improved:

playing with compositions and stroke...

although the i like the way a few of the logos developed (in particular the ones above^^^) i reckon this logo, with the thinner stroke, is most appropriate as it keeps that simplicity and sophistication.

By using the logo vector i was able to play around with designs that will be of use to me when looking at branding and packaging...

experimenting with patterns:
these have potential when thinking of packaging design
