one day long brief

Competition brief:

"Your challenge is create a design for the top of a snowboard and a t-shirt to wear while riding it! Use the same design for both, or create two complementary designs. There are no restrictions or color limits for your snowboard design. The wilder, the crazier, and the gnarlier, the better! Plus, you can customize part of your board using the tips and tails in the sub kit, or you can design the shape of the tip and tail yourself. And if your design is chosen, we’ll fly you out to Summit City, Colorado this November to help build your own board from start to finish at Nightmare Headquarters"

mock up for look-book

printed mock ups

looking at the designs, type and colour on paper:

lookbook

I wanted to created a lookbook for the Me and Thee clothing range, however, the client wasn't wanting one so I thought I propose the design for one incase they might require one in the future.

silk

Seeing as Me and Thee print onto jersey and silk I thought it might be quite interesting to print onto silk...I wanted to develop something that could be cut out & used by the customers as a hair accessory as a means of promotion.

After experimenting with a few designs we decided the final design would sit the nicest in someones hair as you would get the logo detail in the scarf around the hair.

flyers

As an extra to the deliverables I decided to mock up some flyer designs. I wanted to add something a bit diferent to the designs compared to the busniess cards and so played around with texture and layout. It'll also relate to the younger target audience that the brand is aiming at.

Saturday 10 November 2012

A4 mailout

Sitting in with the concept of reflection I mocked up an A4 mail out that would be received in the post with the garments. These were designed taking the triangular shapes that were applied with the tags & posters into consideration, keeping in with the reflective theme.

business card development

developing the business cards:
I wanted to keep the business cards quite simple due to the fact that they'll sit nicely with the logo which i feel expresses the brands aesthetics as it is.

look book ideas

I produced this vector that I felt sat nicely with the clothing range in terms of geometric forms and thought it could sit quite nicely in a look book.

Friday 2 November 2012

biz

I printed out some business cards simply to see how the logo prints out & decided i really like how it sits as a design. The lower case lettering and the delicately rounded type denotes femininity & sophistication. Although I like the stick used, we will not be using it in the final designs as we feel black type on white/off white will work best for the brand.

reflective

After taking another look at the me and the garments I decided to manipulate the phototographs in a way that will be more appropriate the brand identity. Here I created a clipping mask and then reflected and rotated parts of the image to create a kaleidescope image. These could be used for flyers/posters etc

Tuesday 30 October 2012

logo change

after playing around the logo I've decided on a new design. the logo created represents the striking designs of my clients, using simple geometric composition to create the brand name, the inspiration for this logo came from the signature stiching found throughout TenTen’s designs,

logo change

After having another look at the logo I decided to play around with reflection as I felt the design needed to suit the concept behind the clothing label who base their garments on kaleidoscope imagery. In order to do this I needed to manipulate the typeface and see what I could come up with through experimentation.

The typeface was changed from didot to baskerville old face as it added a bit more weight and I felt visually it was more appealing, as well as adding a bit of femininity. I began reflecting the 'e' but I wasn't satisfied with it as a logo. Although it's appropriate (as they use butterfly designs in their clothing and the shape is quite symbolic of that) I felt like it almost looked slightly cheap.

After some fiddling around I came up with this ampersand design with I felt represented me and thee clothing aswell keeping that sophistication in the logo design. The 't' also needed manipulating in order to create balance within the composition.

final logo design for me & thee:

Sunday 28 October 2012

flyer designs

I printed off some flyer designs for me and thee containing the ink photographs. I think they turned out quite nicely as they would be visually appealing to the brand's audience. These three ink images in particular sat quite nicely together in terms of colour. I used quite a textured stock which, although looks and feels nice, might not be quite appropriate for the design as it soaked in a lot of the colour.
