- Dreams were seen as predictions of the future
- People saw them as messages either from the dead or from the gods
- They were of high importance and even influenced the political actions of the leaders at the time
- Aristotle's theory was that dreams are a result of physiological function
Chinese
- The chinese believe that the dream is an actual place and that your soul and spirit go to this world
- Some also thought that, if awakened suddenly, the soul wouldn't return to the body
- This is also believed by some tribes, as supposedly their ancestors lived in their dreams
Egyptians
- Egyptians recorded their dreams in hieroglyphics
